Puppy breeders may have one dog of their own.
English Cocker Spaniels can be of two types: field type and show type. Field dogs have a shorter coat that provides relative ease of maneuvering in thickety places. Dogs that technically live up to trial requirements are scored satisfactory, and those performing with enthusiasm are scored excellent.

English Cocker Spaniels descended from the Spaniel-type hunting dog that had arrived in England centuries before. The Cocker spaniel was developed together with the Springer spaniel, and it was not until 1892 that the English Kennel club drew a demarcation line between these two breeds. Puppy breeders may have one dog of their own.
